Can only play once this weekend unless times are available and NO GUESTS so as to get as many members as possible out on the course
And best of all…NO CHELSEA POINTS THIS WEEKEND!
At the October Board Meeting, the Board voted to open the course on Nov 15. As always, if our Golf Course Superintendent has concerns regarding this opening date or specific course conditions, we will take that into consideration and will keep you informed.
Also, as noted above, there will be a limited contingent of golfers going out to play Friday morning following the Ribbon Cutting. The Golf Course Architect, John Sanford, and his assistant had asked to play the course but were not available Saturday. I felt it was important that the Superintendant and our Golf Professionals have an opportunity to play the course so they can share their observations, tips, and strategies. The Greens Committee, who have put in their time and efforts in planning and monitoring construction progress have been invited, along with the Board and the Past Presidents still living in Spring Run, whose leadership over the last few years has been instrumental in planning this project. I think it is a nice gesture to thank some of the many volunteers in the Community who give of their time, for no pay in return, who are constantly STRIVING to help make Spring Run the best bundled golf club in SW Florida!
It makes sense for the high command to play the course before its official opening. The brass can pick up on any misplaced or forgotten repairs, while playing the course, and make the needed last minute changes so it is in better shape for the membership to play on the weekend.
I used to do the same every Spring on our County Courses. There was always some grumbling, by those impatient to play, but it settled down after a few days.
We all look forward to playing the new course.
